Downloading
Unimatic Add-On and Easy Apollo
Use any browser to go to our website, WWW.GOUAL.COM. Click on the appropriate program download ( Pilot, Flight Attendant, or Easy Apollo ). A file will be downloaded to your computer (PilotDemo.exe, AttendDemo.exe, or ApolloDemo.exe). If you choose the Openor "Run" button, the above files will be downloaded and installed without any further input from you. If you choose the Save option box, you must specify the file destination and then run the file after the download is complete. If you choose the desktop as the destination, you will see the demo file on the desktop after the download is complete. Run the installation file by double clicking the mouse on the icon. The program will then be installed on your system. When you insert your security code (supplied by us after you have purchased the program), your subscription is extended for one year. The program will initially run for a 45 day trial period.
Before the
first time that you connect with the program, you
should accomplish the following steps:
1. You must
have a very specific version of Microsoft Java VM. If you are already successfully running
our AOL compatible version or new version, then
you have it and can skip this step. If not, we suggest that you download it from our website at
www.goual.com under Updates. Click on "Java Update". It will download a file to
your computer which you should specify saving on your desktop or somewhere you remember.
The file name is JAVA.EXE. It is 5MB in size. After the download is complete, close all
windows and then run the file. Let the system reboot.
2. We suggest that you connect to the internet before
starting our program. Broadband users are always connected to the internet. If AOL is your
only ISP, we suggest you start AOL first (it is not necessary to go to UALCREW
channel), minimize and then start our program. Click on Unimatic or Apollo.
3. When
you are done with Unimatic/Apollo, exit our program as usual. If you are done using the
internet, exit from your ISP (AOL for most people).
4. Extra
Note for users with own internet access via dial-up, cable or DSL. You can avoid
having to start AOL along with it's popup advertising windows. Even though it appears that you are not
accessing AOL, you are but through your local internet connection and therefore need to
have an AOL account. You do not need to start AOL or even have it on your computer. Cable
and DSL are both highly recommended if they are available in your area.
5. If you
have the old 32bit program on your computer, you can delete the desktop icon and remove
the ADDON32 or APOLLO32 folder and all its contents. They are not required for the new
program. If you use the Windows uninstall or the uninstall icon we provided, remove the
32bit program before installing the new program.
6. Some
firewall settings can prevent the new connection from working. Usually you do not have to turn off your firewall,
but rather, set it to allow access to the new connection.
See details below.
7. The
instruction manual can be printed by clicking on Help at the top of the main
window. We also suggest you look at the
section on Tricks of the Trade for some useful hints.
Some
common problems,
AOL Sign-in Problems
Problem 1: This area
cannot be accessed by your account
.
Solution 1: This message occurs when you have AOL instant
messenger running with a different screen name than the one you use for Unimatic and
Apollo access. From the "My AIM"
dropdown menu on the AIM client:
choose "edit options", then "edit preferences", then in the
"signon/signoff" category put a checkmark in the "Disable automatic login
to websites using the screen name service".
Problem 2: Action Cancelled
or you see only see a 0 in the upper
corner of the window.
Solution
2: A firewall or Internet Security program is blocking access. You need to turn it off or tell it to allow access
to all ports by our program.
Solution 3: Update to our
version 10.01 or higher. If that does not
work,
Open your internet browser,
click on "Tools" and "Internet Options". On the general
tab,
Click on "Delete File" and
check the "include off-line content" box and click OK.
Click on "Delete cookies"
button.
Click on "OK"
Run Time Error 339" Component TKUTS.DLL not correctly
registered, file is missing or invalid. Also
Runtime Error 429 Active X cannot load.
This is
usually caused because you don't have the proper Java VM.
Install the Java VM described in step 1 above.
My new security code does not work.
Make sure you
are running the new program from the desktop icon that says either Pilot Add-On (AOL) or
FA Add-On (AOL) or Easy Apollo (AOL). The code will not work in the versions less than
10.00. Make sure your code is fourteen numbers
and letters.
I use Zone

Open Zone

The program wont accept my AOL screen name and password during connection.
Start the
program, click on Settings and
User Profile. Make sure your
screen name and password are correct. They are
both case sensitive. You may have to reset
your AOL sign-in. Do this by deleting the
cookies as described in the setup above. Suggest
you sign into Unimatic using only AOL before starting the Add-On or Easy Apollo again.
If another AOL
member signs into the Instant Messenger (AIM) on your computer, it can trigger problems with the AOL screen name
sign-in for you. To solve it, try this:
1) Start
AIM.
2) On the Buddy
List window, click on "My AIM" / "Edit Options" / "Edit
Preferences".
3) Under
Category, click "Sign On/Off".
4) In the
"Sign In" box at right, there will be 4 options, the last of which is
"Disable automatic login to web sites using the Screen Name Service". Check the
box if it is unchecked.
5) Click
OK.
NOTE: This
setting appears to be Per Account / Per Machine - it will have to be
checked / changed for all accounts that have used AIM on the problem PC.
The program
appears to log me in, but I have nothing but a black screen and a cursor jumping around..
You need to
reset your screen colors. Start the program, click on "Settings" -
"Terminal" - "Screen Colors". Choose blue for the background and white
for the foreground. Save.
No-Netlet
Connection and Firewalls
Though the new
connection to Unimatic/Apollo is faster and more reliable than the netlet, it is more
sensitive to certain firewalls and some pop-up blockers.
Here are some solutions we have found.
Note: We are not firewall experts and cannot assist you
in the details listed below. Firewall
technology and setup is not for the everyday user. If
you need help, contact the firewall
manufacturer.
If you have
broadband, you need some sort of firewall since you are always connected to the internet. If you have a router such as Linksys, it generally
comes with a built in hardware firewall. These
are very effective and normally do not require additional software firewalls. Use of this kind of firewall is much less likely to
cause problems with the new connection than software firewalls like Zone Alarm and Norton
Internet Security.
Windows XP has a
firewall that you can activate in the properties dialog of your network connections. This is also effective for most single user systems
and does not cause problems with the new connection.
If you use Zone
Alarm, you may have to list our program in Program Control tab as a
trusted program. Check all four
boxes to allow it access to all ports and act as a server.
If you use add-blocking in Norton Internet
Security, on the main
Most
firewall programs can be set to allow access to specific IP Addresses and DNS names. The IP addresses for the new connection are subject
to change, but the DNS names stay the same. The DNS names for the MultiBridge servers are
united-mb1.airline.compuserve.com, united-mb2.airline.compuserve.com, and
united-mb3.airline.compuserve.com.
If your
firewall allows you to enter a trusted port, the
new connection uses port 2030.
